Can I share one of the most heartwarming compliments my son Christian gave me when he was a teenager?
He looked me in the eyes and said, “Mom, one of the things I really appreciate about you is your happiness. You genuinely enjoy being a mom, and it shows. Most of the other moms I see at school or sports don’t seem to have that same joy.”
As a mother, those words touched my soul profoundly. For Christian to recognize and feel that I truly cherish and find joy in being a mom meant everything.
Did you know that teaching your children to be happy starts with your own happiness?
This truth encompasses various aspects of life, from spiritual growth, soul healing, to fostering healthy relationships. Yet, on a practical note, I’ve also come to realize that one of the dearest roles and heartfelt joys I have as a mom is to bring smiles to my children’s faces. I deeply understand that being a mother is a sacred and serious calling. However, we often forget that one of our most profound duties as mothers is to guide our children in embracing fun and joy – both in times of ease and moments of challenge.
Imagine if we recognized that, alongside nurturing, loving, and equipping our children for life, it is our responsibility to teach our children how to be HAPPY and to have FUN!
I’m the mom who encourages her children to make school fun, strike playful poses for photos, make silly faces, or entertain my latest “brilliant” dance idea (even if it might cause them a little embarrassment) – all while capturing these priceless moments with my camera (because these memories are truly treasures).
On this particular day, after enduring long lines at an amusement park, we decided to turn the wait into a hilarious photo adventure! That heartwarming photo reveals a precious laughter-filled memory of Christian and me.
So, here’s my encouragement for you: You CAN train your child in righteousness and still BE A FUN MOM! When we do this, our kids often respond with enough joy to have us laughing so hard we might just clutch our stomachs while holding the camera.
Enjoy these moments…trust me, you’ll be glad you did! 💕📸🌟
